Round One of MotoGP 2014 at Qatar – Marquez Rossi battle it out

The opening round of MotoGP at Losail circuit in Qatar was very much an emotionally exciting race for the fans, shooting their adrenaline to a high even though they are just sitting – on the couch or the grandstand. The world Champion Marc Marquez started from the pole and finished on the top step of the podium while he traded places with fellow riders. The last three laps of the race between Rossi and Marquez reminded of the 2007 catalunyan race where Rossi and Lorenzo fought for the top step.07_motogp_ds-_s1d7792_preview_big

Lorenzo started from second row on the grid, led the race in the early first lap and crashed on cold tyres. We are human and mistakes happen. Dani Pedrosa too started the race from second row and finished in third.

After Lorenzo, it was LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl who lead the race but crashed out. Valentino Rossi then lead the race and the excitement started seeing THE DOCTOR lead the race after so many seasons of thirds and fourths. Marquez finally made a move on Valentino Rossi on lap fourteen to lead the race for the first time. The battle continued until the end with Marquez coming on top, a perfect last lap. He quoted ““I’m very happy with the result today, The battle with Valentino was the best part of the race besides the win, I really enjoyed it!”

Even though Marquez won the race but Rossi showed that experience and race craft come handy when it comes to business. Valentino Rossi was surely the experience old man with young man’s aggression. The last two laps saw the pair swap places several times and finish just 0.259s apart, three seconds clear of Dani Pedrosa.

Aleix Espargaro made a strong debut on his ‘Open’ Forward Yamaha under the Losail floodlights, finishing the race in fourth position.
